[스미스] (불꽃), 헤스본을 모압 사람으로부터 정복한 후에 아마도 암모리 사람들에 의해 작곡된 것으로 보이는 놀라운 노래인 (민 21:30) 에서만 언급되는 곳으로, 따라서 이스라엘의 침입보다 더 이전 시기의 것이다. 이는 디본과 메데바와 함께 언급되며, 아마도 헤스본 근처에 있었을 것이다. 노파와 매우 유사한 이름은 두 번 언급된 노바이다. 에발드는 노파가 후자의 것과 동일하다고 결정한다.

[Smith] (blast), a place mentioned only in (Numbers 21:30) in the remarkable song apparently composed by the Amorites after their conquest of Heshbon from the Moabites, and therefore of an earlier date than the Israelite invasion. It is named with Dibon and Medeba, and was possibly in the neighborhood of Heshbon. A name very similar to Nophah is Nobah, which is twice mentioned. Ewald decides that Nophah is identical with the latter of these.
